Huxley's Goal Not Enough To Take The Points

It should have been a night to remember for David Huxley.
The Wolves midfielder scored his first NSL goal against Canberra Cosmos.
Huxley put his team ahead 1-0 before half-time but the wheels fell off in the second half and the Wolves lost 3-2.
Huxley said yesterday he had waited 74 games to find the back of an opponent's net.
``I thought I had scored against Gippsland last season but David Cervinski's head got in the way," Huxley said.
``I struck this shot perfectly and it was heading for the top corner but `Shovel' deflected the ball over the top for a corner.
``It was great to finally score one but it was a disappointing result for us."
Huxley said he has no doubt the Wolves would bounce back against Newcastle this week.
He said Newcastle always provided tough opposition at home but the Wolves had a lot to prove.
``Last season whenever we lost a game we always seemed to be able to bounce back the following week," he said.
``The home losses to Melbourne Knights and Newcastle last season were good examples.
``Having Scott Chipperfield and Alvin Ceccoli back will be a boost to us this week."
Huxley is one Wollongong player with a special incentive to see the Wolves go all the way to another grand final.
Apart from replacement goalkeeper Daniel Beltrame, Huxley was the only Wolves player who didn't get on the field for that memorable win against Perth Glory last season.
On Friday night, Huxley will be directly opposed to former Wolves team-mate Anthony Surjan.
Surjan signed with United in the off-season after quitting the Wolves mid-way through the last campaign.
Huxley said he was a good mate of `Surj' and they played golf together. ``We are both keen punters and get to the races whenever we can," Huxley said.
``I've told him I will kick him if I get the chance on Friday night.
``I think I am still just that bit quicker than he is."
