IMAGINE being on an excursion to Canberra when you discover the bus driver is an alien who wants to take you to the moon.

That's what happened to year 6 at Edgeworth Public School last month but they ended up at West Wallsend instead.

The school put on a show called To the Moon and Back for audiences in West Wallsend High School.

It involved more than 500 students and told the story of seven children and two teachers, and their interesting journey through space.

The journey was started by preschoolers and young starters singing The Wheels on the Bus.

As they zoom into space they meet the stars from kindergarten, and the monsters and purple people-eaters from stage 1.

When they land on the dark side of the moon they meet stage 2 aliens. They then go to the light side and meet the stage 3 Agnocs and the Gnik, who gets them home.

The finale was a spectacular vision of colour, dance and singing.

The show was a huge success, playing to a combined audience of 900 people.
